Researcher­s from Harvard examined 7968 people – including 628 people who had been diagnosed with depression within a two-year period – and found those who were active every day were less likely to be diagnosed with a new episode of depression (including those who had a family history of the disorder). Their study, published in the journal

Depression And Anxiety, further concluded that those who participat­ed every day in activities such as yoga or stretching, dance and aerobic classes, and gym-based machine workouts, experience­d greater benefits to their mental health than those who did 30 minutes of running or walking.
