Researchers from Harvard examined 7968 people – including 628 people who had been diagnosed with depression within a two-year period – and found those who were active every day were less likely to be diagnosed with a new episode of depression (including those who had a family history of the disorder). Their study, published in the journal
Depression And Anxiety, further concluded that those who participated every day in activities such as yoga or stretching, dance and aerobic classes, and gym-based machine workouts, experienced greater benefits to their mental health than those who did 30 minutes of running or walking.
