Is your child coping?
The results of a randomised clinical trial in China suggest school-aged children with type 1 who participate in a Coping
Skills Training Program are better equipped to “handle difficult emotions, decrease stress and establish or maintain a sense of internal order”. Although the study measured a variety of life aspects, the most significant improvement shown was in positive coping and diabetes self-management skills. Further research is required to alter the program and improve the wellbeing of adolescents living
with type 1.
