Editor’s note

As Autumn slips into Winter my mind (and stomach) turns to thoughts of soup. It really is the perfect food – heating your hands as you clasp a bowl or mug, warming you from the inside out after a cold day and filling you up with plenty of healthy ingredients. Bonus points – it’s easy to make and ideal to freeze in portions so your future self will thank you on a busy night when cooking dinner just isn’t going to happen! Turn to page 36 for our delicious soup feature and you’ll find a couple of others scattered through the issue as well. I know I’ll be starting with our cover star and working (and slurping) my way through all of them.

Another favourite meal of mine is a one-pot dinner. What’s not to love about a meal that maximises flavour and minimises washing up? Take a look at our selection of warming one-pots from page 24 as well as family favourites starting on page 50 that we’ve revamped to make both delicious and healthy. Of course, we haven’t forgotten about dessert and you’ll find some fruitfocussed treats on page 64.

The COVID-19 vaccine has been available for a few months now and some of you may have received yours already, while others are still waiting or may have questions. We’ve answered your FAQs on page 109 in simple, easy-tounderstand language – no faffing about. The year that was 2020 was a good reminder to all of us about how important it is to be prepared for whatever life may throw at us. Take a look at Ready for Anything from page 100 for some ideas about how to prepare for, and cope with, an unexpected setback.

Mum-of-three Jenna Carroll certainly had to roll with the punches when she was diagnosed with type 1 after the birth of her third child. While it’s only early days and Jenna is still getting used to managing her diabetes, she’s determined that it won’t define her. You can read Jenna’s inspiring story on page 118.

I love hearing what you think of the magazine – after all, we create it for you - so please get in touch via email or Facebook.
