Life is SWEET
Dole’s partnership with the Rainforest Alliance is bearing fruit for workers and wildlife in the Amazon.
You’ll be familiar with Dole’s top-quality bananas – but were you aware we’re a socially conscious bunch too? We know our consumers are increasingly savvy about environmental issues and sustainable practices, so naturally you care about where your food is grown. Which is why at Dole New Zealand we’re proud that all of our pineapples, Ecuadorian bananas and Bobby bananas from the Philippines bear the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal. What does this mean? Well, it shows we’re not only serious about providing you with top-quality produce, but we’re equally committed to securing healthy conditions for the people who grow it.
With deforestation in the Amazon happening at a rate of 80 trees every four seconds, sustainable goods have never been more important. The Rainforest Alliance is a non-governmental organisation that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods, and Dole’s Rainforest Alliance-certified farms undergo audits to make sure that they comply with rigorous social criteria designed to protect workers, nearby communities and wildlife.
Dole New Zealand also sponsors the brilliant conservation efforts of the Motutapu Restoration Trust so we’re supporting sustainability right here at home.
So when you see the Dole sticker, you can rest assured that what you’re popping into your shopping trolley isn’t just going to make the best fruit salad or banana pancakes – it’s also making the world a better place.
Conscious consumption never tasted so sweet.
