How to… resample without having to re-sample

NI’s Battery 4 is more than a drum playback plugin. Yes, it comes complete with myriad drum sounds from classic drum machines to weird digital blip kits but the real magic lies at the bottom of its interface, where each pad (containing a sample) can be processed individually. Here you’ll find envelope shaping and effects provision, but also the engine, which lets you trigger the original sample or time-stretch it. There are two modes for stretching, with Standard giving a Granular option to control Speed and Grain size. Effectively, this resamples the original sound, without you having to actually resample at all.
