How to… capture reversed effects

-

>

Reversing is one of the most popular techniques producers associate with resampling but sometimes you don’t want to reverse a whole sound but just its effects. To do this, make sure the effects you’re using are assigned to auxiliaries, rather than Inserts and then reverse the sound which is triggering effects. If it’s a MIDI track, render it as an audio file first. Solo the aux channels so that the effects are triggered but the source sound doesn’t play and render these effects as a new audio file. Drag the ‘backwards’ effects file onto a new audio file and reverse it. Now the effects will ‘ramp up’ into the source sound.
