2016 MOUNTADAM EDEN VALLEY SHIRAZ
RRP $27 / 2036
The higher alcohol of this wine than that of its Five-Fifty sibling rounds the palate and delivers its message in a more considered fashion. There are layers of sombre black fruits, liquorice and cracked pepper, tannins and oak following the trail set by the fruit. 14.8% alc.
WINEMAKER Helen McCarthy What do you love about aged wine?
I tend not to drink a lot of youthful Shiraz. There is something about the evolution of Shiraz that intrigues me. Shiraz doesn’t seem to follow a set path of development. I’ve seen wines from the same region made in a similar way age completely differently over time. Patience and a bit of faith are virtues when aging any wines but in my experience its even more true of Shiraz.
