Brian and Julie Hurse grow excellent shiraz. Jo Marsh, of Billy Button fame has always loved the Hurses’ fruit. This inaugural release is fabulous. A whorl of black and red plums, laced with spices and a hint of gum leaves that are more Aussie bush than eucalyptus. Juicy fruit on the medium-bodied palate, but it’s very much a savoury wine with ripe, grainy tannins. One to watch. JF 14% alc.
