2019 DOGROCK PYRENEES SHIRAZ

- Allen Hart

$30 / 2032

Hand picked, crushed into small open-top fermenters, wildyeast fermented, basket pressed, 13 months in French oak (40% new). Makes an immediate impact with deep inky hues and intensity of aromas and flavour. Resolutely a Pyrenees shiraz with trademark notes of pepper, Aussie bush and menthol. A very warm growing season has brought out a glorious array of ripe black fruits, heady spice and a relative richness matched with toasty, chocolatey oak and supple tannins. For now or later. JP 13.5% alc.

What makes this wine ideal for right now?

It has lovely balanced and natural tannins, a splash of vibrant red fruits, with a just a hint of spice and licorice. It has ample density, which just cries out for lamb roast or a Morrocan dish.
