2019 LEOGATE ESTATE MALABAR RESERVE HUNTER VALLEY SHIRAZ

Violet, blueberry pie, dark molten cherry, anise and mocha. Creamy, rich and salubrious, with a dichotomous tension. Turkish ballet dancer. The earthiness of the Hunter, in a modern, ripe vein befitting the Brokenback Vineyard. Mercifully, not reductive. The flow, smooth and long. Largely used French oak, imparting cedar and vanilla. Far from resolved. Yet the densely concentrated fruit only suggests integration. Given the quality of components, I wish the style were a little lighter with more grape tannin. Delicious all the same. NG 14.5% alc.
