2019 BLACKJACK MR RAMOY

Cabernet and shiraz. Fermented and aged in 100% new French oak. Santa Rosa Ramoy, aka Blackjack, was an American sailor who jumped ship in Melbourne in the 1860s in search of fortune on the gold fields. This flagship wine, named in his honour, does his story proud. A heady introduction in plum, blackberry, vanilla and dried herbs shows the great Aussie grape duo in full, delicious flight. Built for the cellar, the French oak is not shy, but it does fit well, an amply suitable partner for the generosity of fruit and tannin. JP 14.5% alc.

What is special about this wine?

Vineyards and wine production revolves around the annual rhythmic cycle, each vintage a return to the beginning. The very first wine of Blackjack in 1992 was in fact a wine of the whole vineyard. Blackjack Mr Ramoy completes a cycle. A wine designed to complete its own time cycle in the cellar.
