2019 LAUGHING JACK MOPPA HILL BLOCK 6 SHIRAZ

Wow – loads of fresh shaved deli meat here, with black cherries, kirsch, clove, star anise, pink peppercorn and licorice. In the mouth, the wine is pert and finer than expected from the meaty introduction, yet it does not waver from its savoury roots. Very good, very long, and more-ish for its bacon fat/maple vibes. Like it. EL 14% alc.

What’s special about this wine, and when do you believe it will be at its peak for drinking?

A very low yielding vintage with good ageing potential. We personally enjoy the Moppa Hill shiraz around six to 10 years but it will cellar for up to 15. You can expect a silky palate with fine tannins and purity of fruits.
