From the Mountadam vineyard, established in 1972. I found this wine the more elegant of the current Mountadam chardonnay triptych. Finer in both aromatic allure and palate shape. The pure white peach, nectarine and grapefruit notes are all there along with soft spice, roasted cashews, stone and white flowers, but it’s tighter, with fine acidity coiled like a spring and tension and drive to burn. DB 13.5% alc.

What is special about this wine?

Harvested in the cool of the night and fermented in seasoned French oak hogsheads and puncheons, the emphasis of this particular wine was to showcase the expression of purity and minerality of cool climate Eden Valley chardonnay with French oak playing a gently supportive role.
