From the Willowlake vineyard. Whole-bunched pressed and fermented in 300L French barrels (30% new). An impressive wine from the first, with its aromas of stone fruits, grilled nuts and discreet, well-judged struck match. There’s white nectarines and grapefruit pith on the mouth-watering palate, and I like the touch of grip on the long finish, derived, most probably, from one barrel that was a whole-berry ferment. A lovely effort. PR 12.9% alc.
What is special about this wine?
Sourced from a single site in the Upper Yarra Valley, this chardonnay is whole bunch pressed, fermented wild, matured in 100% French oak and not fined. This wine is all about shining a light on the fruit, the site and the region. Winemaking remains minimal.
