86.5/6/5.5/2% cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/ malbec/merlot. Matured for 14 months in French oak (18% new). Classical, supple and silky. The red fruits are on show here, backed by a wall of crafted oak. The oak provides structure but also rigidity, the waves of flavour crash against it in the the mouth. The acidity is finely woven into the fruit, stitched with invisible thread. EL 14% alc.
What is special about the vineyard this wine was made from? The site of the Thompson Estate vineyard in Wilyabrup was carefully chosen because of its similarity to the great years of Bordeaux. The variability of loam, gravel and mungite soils contributes to the typicity and complexity of the wines.
