RIEDEL Sommeliers Hermitage

-

Sommeliers was a design revolution for the wine world, with its shapes following the Bauhaus design principle of “form follows function”. Claus J. Riedel (9th generation) discovered that wines showed more depth and balance when enjoyed from certain shapes, kicking off RIEDEL’s dominance of the global glass market. In 1994, while visiting Rhone producer Guigal, Georg J. Riedel (10th generation) realised that the current shapes in their portfolio did not fully accentuate the characters of Hermitage. Following a series of workshops, this new egg-shaped glass was created for the Old World style.
