2019 WREN ESTATE I’M SO RONELY SHIRAZ, HEATHCOTE

Winemaker Michael Wren looks to the prettiest wines of all the shiraz he sees each vintage, for his heartwearing homage to Rhône syrah. Invariably, Ronely shines. The ‘19 keeps to the style, radiant with such energy and life. Aniseed, blackberry, blueberry, cinnamon, a touch of pepper and a layer of lively spices awaits. Plush and seamless, it lets loose on the palate and just keeps going, smoothly, resolutely towards a dry, amaro-like finish. Delicious. JP 14.2% alc.

Tell us something interesting about this wine? This wine was born out of the 2018 vintage. We have 16 different small blocks of shiraz in our vineyard that are all different rootstock and clone combinations. All are picked and fermented separately. One block stood out, not for its concentration or power, but for its stunning fruit purity, structure and balance to the point that we had to bottle it as a stand alone wine.
