The Barkly affords durif the status it deserves, celebrating its bold ways and its much under-rated elegant herbal/floral detail and savoury tannins. A masterful winemaking performance. Tell us something interesting about this wine? The 2017 ripening season allowed us to pick our durif at optimum ripeness. Our Rutherglen durif, planted in 1976, is an old Rutherglen clone which has the power and punch we expect from durif with length, liveliness and yet finishes with a silken tannin profile. We mature our Barkly Durif in a mix of seasoned and new French oak, always ensuring fruit power comes first with enough oak to support. Cellars well for 10 years.
