Blue Gables was establishe­d in 2004 by Alistair and Catherine Hicks, who purchased 8ha of a north-facing hillside slope from Catherine’s father’s dairy farm and built a two-storey gabled roof farmhouse. With almost 5ha under vine, Blue Gables makes premium estate-grown wines, all with varietal expression unique to the site's microclima­te.

How should we enjoy these wines this season? The 2019 Rosé is hugely versatile; ideal to drink in hot weather with tapenade or a salade niçoise. The Jesse Chardonnay is best for a formal dinner with friends over flavourful food. Enjoy the 2018 Pinot Noir during summer with barbecued meats or rich seafood.

What wine are you most excited about? Our first estate-grown sangiovese has just been released and is available online. The wine displays ripe cherry, prominent tannins and a well-balanced acidity, and pairs wonderfull­y with the wood-fired pizzas at our cellar door.
