LIFE LESSONS

-

I love MiNDFOOD, but life has gotten in the way and I’m a little behind in my reading. Hence I write with comment about your article ‘Life After Death’, from the September 2018 issue.

I am 100 per cent behind organ donation and personally see no need for my body to remain intact when I die. However your article left me with the uncomfortable sense that organ donation is becoming an expectation rather than a gift – that just because we have the ability to save lives this way, we must do so regardless of what it costs other humans.

It is fabulous that medical advances are able to prolong our lives, but sometimes I think it’s worth remembering the human side of illness and also that there is a time when we just have to let go. Anne
