• Miriam Margolyes has appeared in or provided a voice to more than 140 films and television programmes. One of her more memorable roles was as the eccentric Professor Sprout in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, where she memorably exhorts Harry, Hermione and their classmates to “grasp your Mandrake and… pull it up!” Many Millennials and GenZers know and love her from this role.

• A little- known role she had fun with was providing the female voices for the 1970s cult Japanese TV series, Monkey. Joining her in providing dodgy Japanese-accented voice- overs was actor Andrew Sachs (Manuel from Fawlty Towers).

• One of her more recent roles was as barrister Huntley- Brown in the Australian TV series, Rake. She reunited with Roxburgh for the movie, H is for Happiness, filmed in WA in late 2018.

• She has also recently finished filming Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, starring Essie Davis and Jacqueline McKenzie – a feature film adaptation of the TV series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, in which Margolyes plays Phryne Fisher’s Aunt Prudence.

• Margolyes’ role as Fly the kindly mother sheepdog in Babe, led to her finding a new home. The 1995 film was made in Robertson in country NSW – a locale Margolyes found so delightful, she built her Australian base, ‘ Yarrawa Hill’, there.
