THE SWEET TASTE OF CUSTARD APPLES
The custard apple season is in full swing in Australia. They’re packed with vitamin C and naturally sweet, and can be used in a variety of dishes. Serve on top of breakfast cereal, or mix with avocado for a delicious toast topper. When choosing custard apples, look for ones that are pale green and firm. Store them in your fruit bowl to allow them to naturally ripen. To speed up the ripening process, place the custard apple in a paper bag with a banana. Ripe custard apples will give slightly under pressure when squeezed, similar to an avocado.
