A vocal campaigner for social justice and human rights issues, Thompson is also an environmentalist – and in April this year, she joined the Extinction Rebellion protest at Oxford Circus (pictured above). The environmental campaign group blocked a number of key junctions in central London in a bid to highlight the ongoing ecological crisis. Thompson addressed the climate change protesters from aboard a pink boat, and read poems celebrating the beauty of nature. However, she received some criticism for flying 8,700km from Los Angeles to take part in the action.
