ALL ABOARD TO BATHURST
Located in Central West NSW, Bathurst is a city of contrasts where rich history fuses with contemporary culture.
It’s also a foodie lover’s dream with an abundance of cafés, restaurants, cocktail bars, French patisseries and farmer’s markets. Here are some favourite finds for your next food tour.
• Moubar Vintage: A petite blue-and-white 1950s caravan serves up some of the region’s best coffee. Behind Church Bar every day (except Sunday).
• Doppio Espresso: One of the newest cafés on the Bathurst scene, Doppio lives in a recycled shipping container in the Tremain’s Mill precinct.
• Bake, Table & Tea: Not a coffee drinker? No worries. Meander into Bake, Table & Tea for a pot of tea and a scone served, of course, with local fresh cream and jam.
• The Hub Café: Grab a Benny Bagel made from locally sourced produce in the leafy covered al fresco dining area or cosy up inside in winter.
• Sweet Caramel: Nestled in a historic Victorian building, this café has an extensive selection of irresistible cakes and sweet pastries, along with appetising breakfast and lunch menus created by owner and head chef, Marisa Bonucci, who is Le Cordon Bleu-trained.
• Legall Patisserie: Pick up a flaky French pastry (and a lemon tart or three) created by French-born pastry chef and owner Philippe Legall.
• Vine & Tap: Grab a table in the courtyard and choose from a mouth-watering selection of Italian share plates.
• The Painted Horse Café: Run by Kate Geale and chef Nicole McIlwaine, who was in fine dining for 15 years, this eatery offers hearty meals and delicious snacks.
• Bathurst Farmer’s Market: Held on the fourth Saturday of each month, the market features locally roasted coffee, Renzaglia Wine, gin from Bathurst’s own micro-distillery Stone Pine, as well as seasonal fruit and vege, local honey, jams, fresh flowers and more. visitbathurst.com.au
