It’s been a dark and heavy year for many, so why not add a burst of colour with your lipstick during the festive season?

If you have always worn a natural lip colour, the idea of wearing a bold lipstick can be daunting. But with a few simple tips, you can wear a statement lip with confidence. Choosing a colour is the first, and often most challenging, step. Start by finding a colour that complements your skin’s undertones. If the base tone of your skin is pink, red or blue, and you burn easily, you have cool undertones and will best suit a bold colour with a cool base, such as blue-toned hot pink or cherry red. If the base tone of your skin is yellow or gold and you tan easily, you have warm undertones and would best suit lipsticks with a warm base, like coral or brick red. If you have both warm and cool hues, your undertone is neutral, and you can wear any colour. Before applying your colour, exfoliate your lips lightly with a toothbrush and moisturise with a light layer of lip balm. Then use nude lip liner on the edge of the lips before applying your gorgeous new lipstick.
