REMOTE DIFFERENCE
New research out of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) cites that as of May 2020, school closures had impacted almost 70 per cent of the world’s student population, or approximately 1.2 billion students. Remote learning technologies have enabled remote schooling to continue around the world, however not all students have access to these technologies, and as a result, students’ educational experiences during the pandemic have differed vastly. Coupled with economic recessions, the impact of COVID-19 has proven a recipe for inequity, attrition, marginalisation, disengagement, and stress across the entire education profession.
