New Innovations
AVOCADO BEER
Australian Avocados has partnered with craft beer producer Grassy Knoll Brewing to create a limited batch of appropriately named Aussie Avo Ale. Available for the summer, the crafty brew has a unique flavour profile. “We’ve created a beer that hooks into the trend of cream ales, and adding an avo has totally opened our minds to exploring and experimenting more with Australian avocado recipes,” says Grassy Knoll founder Jeff Argent. “We’re really proud of the finished product and think Aussies who enjoy a crisp and tropical style of beer will be really surprised at the subtlety of texture the Australian avocados add.”
PINK PROSECCO
The first Australian-made pink prosecco has been released by Hunter Valley winemakers, Gruppetto Vino. Prosecco is Italy’s most popular sparkling wine, and production of the pink version has now been approved by Italy’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. “Wine making in
Italy is heavily regulated, with the authorities prescribing how certain styles can be made,” says Gruppetto Vino winemaker Nathan Heuston. “In Australia, we have a lot more flexibility and freedom which encourages creativity. But prosecco is still relatively new to the local market and we’re excited to be one of the first to offer it in a pink style.” He adds: “Aside from the fact that pink wines are gaining more and more popularity, the addition of shiraz to the white prosecco adds more than just colour. Pink prosecco is a much more versatile wine and allows the wine to be paired with not only seafood and white meat but red meat also.”
GRAPEFRUIT APERITIF
Pampelle is the world’s first ruby red grapefruit aperitif. With a relatively low 15% ABV and 30% naturally lower in sugar than other leading aperitifs, Pampelle is a deliciously refreshing spirit for summer. Mix it with prosecco and soda water for a Spritz, or mix with tonic water as you would a G&T.
