A STEP-IN MUM’S LOVE

What a beautiful woman you are, Michelle (‘My Story’, March). Your heartbreaking story was a tear-jerker. You are far too young to go through something like this.

We have a very dear friend who emigrated from South Africa with her Kiwi husband. In October they had a beautiful baby girl who has been diagnosed with a rare neurological syndrome. I have watched the heartache and challenges this young mum faces not being able to have her family by her side as was planned, all due to COVID-19. I have been the step-in mum and granny while they go through the red tape of special dispensation to get her mum to NZ.
