Everyone could use a friend like Sookie St. James. With her quick wit, bubbly disposition and willingness to do anything for a friend (include cheer them up when they were down), chef Sookie almost stole the show in the iconic dramedy Gilmore Girls, thanks to her portrayal by Melissa McCarthy. The role marked McCarthy as a talent to watch in TV. She drew more attention with her TV show, Mike & Molly, in 2010. That was followed the next year by her big Hollywood breakthrough as the hilarious Megan in Bridesmaids, for which she won her first Oscar nomination.
