LETTER OF THE MONTH
I’ve always been a fan of the mag and when my copy arrived in the mail this week I was a) blown away by the beautiful cover; b) loving the new layout/order; and c) moved by the content.
Having struggled with mental illness for the past 7+ years, this issue really resonated with me because colour has honestly served as a healthy, positive pick-me-up through tough times and mornings where I literally had to drag myself out of bed and be a functioning human being.
Not wanting to rely on medication, I sought help from a naturopath who recommended colour as a treatment and it’s not only turned out more fun than I could imagine, but effective on so many levels.
My wardrobe used to consist of many shades of grey, black and occasional blues but I now have a rainbow ‘confronting’ me in the mornings and it’s my weapon of choice. When I need energy I dress in red, when I am happy and feel alive I go with green or yellow, when I feel down I wear a multicoloured skirt or something really loud. Simply feeling ‘seen’, mostly from other people commenting on the happiness of a scarf or the joy of a brightly patterned shirt, lifts me up high enough to forget I awoke sad, angry or tired.
Colour is magic. Colour is love. Colour helps us create a better day, each day, even if it means wearing purple undies when you have to succumb to a corporate meeting when greys, blacks or navy are the preferred attire. Thank you (yet again!) for putting out an incredible publication that touches so many of us. Love you guys SO much!
