DANCE AWAY YOUR HEART ACHE

-

Any form of dance can help you manage stress, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. Here’s how.

1. Music relaxes you. “It can soothe your limbic system and your nervous system,” explains former ballet dancer Michelle Rodriguez, who is now a physical therapist.

2. It takes your mind off your troubles. “Learning to move your body in a new way and memorise steps requires all of your concentration,” Rodriguez says.

3. Dancing helps release tension.

“Our bodies house emotions – in our shoulders and legs, and abdomens,” Rodriguez explains. Stress, anxiety, fear, and anger can cause muscles to become tight. Dancing helps you move through those feelings and past them.
