VIEW FROM THE INSIDE
Finding out what goes on in the gut can be a challenge but science is working on a solution.
Clinicians often rely on imprecise measures such as faecal samples to gauge what’s going on inside us. Now scientists at RMIT University in Melbourne have developed pill-size, swallowable sensors that transmit data to a doctor’s mobile phone. With good results during human trials, the capsules could one day help diagnose gut disorders and reduce the need for colonoscopies.
