Health-giving teas

Your daily cuppa can now be more than just a refreshment. These new teas offer some serious health perks.

- Our dietitian Melissa Meier reports.

From vitamin tea to chocolate tea, and everything in between, your daily cuppa has just been supercharged. So now, whether you want a steaming cup to wind down with, or a brew to chat to a friend over, you have more choice than ever. Here’s how to get the most out of your daily tea ritual.

Citrus refresh

Eloments Organic Vitamin Tea Summer Orange

With hints of orange, lemongrass and fennel, this vibrant green tea is a flavourful vitamin pill in a cup.

Each tea bag provides over 40 per cent of your daily needs of immunity-boosting vitamin C, 60 per cent of daily zinc needs for healthy eyes, and 90 per cent of daily thiamin needs to support your metabolism. We love it as a morning refreshment.

Choc queen

The Husk Mill Vanilla Cacao Tea

A healthy hot chocolate – what’s not to love? This tea is made using the outer shell of the cocoa bean, which is then blended with vanilla. These husks contain a stimulating compound called theobromine, which is responsible for that pep in your step you feel after enjoying chocolate. You’ll be pleased to know there’s no added sugar, so it’s a healthy alternative to tame those pesky mid-afternoon sweet cravings.

Allergen friendly

Lipton Dairy Free

If your diet is dairy-free, you’ll know the impossible task of brewing the perfect cuppa that doesn’t taste dull or bitter – but not anymore. This tea has been specifically designed to be used with non-dairy milk (like the almond and macadamia milk that’s everywhere all of a sudden). Sub it in at any time that you’d have a regular cup of tea.

Olive goodness

Stone & Grove Olive Leaf Tea

Instead of traditional tea leaves, this brew is made from 100 per cent olive leaves, which gives it a rich flavour.

Olive leaves are particularly high in the antioxidants oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol, which support your immune system and heart health. An added bonus is that this tea is caffeine-free, so you can sip on it in the evening as a calming nightcap.

Summer sip

Love Your Guts Raspberry & Mint Water Kefir

The new alternative to the trendy tea-based kombucha that you’ve been seeing lately, this mildly sweet drink is caffeine-free and provides gut-friendly probiotics. Plus, it’s low in kilojoules. Enjoy it chilled on a balmy summer night, alongside an alfresco barbecue dinner. Cheers!
