At risk of Alzheimer’s?

-

“Feeling a little forgetful, and worried you might have early-onset Alzheimer’s disease? Relax! You likely don’t,” says Weiyi Mu, a clinical genetic counsellor.

“It can be easy to think that the minute you start to feel a little fuzzy, you’re doomed. Many factors play into whether or not you’ll get any form of Alzheimer’s or dementia-related illness, and the sum of those may be greater than your genetic odds.”

Also, only about five per cent of people with Alzheimer’s develop it ‘early’, meaning younger than 65. So keeping your heart healthy, eating good-for-you foods, and not smoking are all important in fighting back against risk.
