When selecting flowers for your runner, select plants such as natives which are extremely hardy and can handle being without water. Pop in delicate flowers, such as roses, just before Christmas lunch, to ensure they do not wilt prematurely.

Spray the fresh flowers with a light spritz of water through the day.
