PRESIDENT’S NEW JOB
May 2019 sees great recognition of Portugal’s footwear expertise as Luís Onofre, President of APICCAPS (the Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods Manufacturers’ Association) and third-generation entrepreneur renowned for his eponymous shoe brand, takes over the lead of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC), succeeding the Italian Cleto Sacripanti. Headquartered in Brussels, CEC represents the whole European footwear industry, which counts approximately 21,000 companies and is responsible for over 278,000 jobs. Luís Onofre shoes are worn by Queen Letizia of Spain, Michelle Obama, Naomi Watts and Paris Hilton.
