A SEROTONIN-BOOSTING COCKTAIL OF VIBRANT SUMMER HUES MAKES RESORT 2020 COLLECTIONS BURST WITH ENERGY
WOMENSWEAR TREND
The transitional Resort 20 and SS20 seasons offer a juicy color range rendered in head-to-toe single-color looks, or contrast combinations that include Sugar Pink, Mint and luminous neons; while warm accents such as Fiery Orange, Mango and Sunshine provide an optimistic, Mediterranean vacation mood.
The core color message was sent by the epic Jacquemus S/S20 show, held in the middle of lavender fields on a bright fuchsia catwalk inspired by David Hockney’s paintings. The chromatic lineup moved from subtle pastel sorbet shades to lime green, hot pink, Cornflower Blue, Burnt Orange and Tequila-sunrise ombré. This was complemented by picturesque landscape prints on oversized structured blazers and wide-leg pants, while delicate translucent embroideries, hyper-sexy tiny dresses and pleated skirts completed the range. The gradient effect of mellow orange fading into peach and lavender before swelling into plum purple was also spotted at Jonathan Simkhai. Meanwhile zesty lime green and frozen yellow shades acidified the Maryam Nassir Zadeh collection.
Known for its influence on emotional wellbeing, the turmeric and burnt yellow palette imbued nearly every Resort show with a sun-drenched feeling. Visible, for example, in Stella McCartney’s 3D petal dresses, Bottega Veneta’s and Off-White’s leather pieces, Sies Marjan’s striking monochromatic silhouettes, Rosie Assoulin’s dramatic tops, Chloé’s silky chiffons and Monse bodycon slip dresses, this is one of the season’s key shades and a true celebration of summer vibrancy and youthful playfulness.
