Exploration, innovation and conservation are the pillars of North Sails’ brand ethos. Founded by elite sailor, golden Olympian and outstanding engineer Lowell North, the brand is the world’s leading sailmaker. Besides, lately it has been making waves with its clothing line which reflects the company’s commitment to preserving its main raison d’être: the sea. North Sails has been involved in numerous ocean conservation projects: thus, it has partnered with the explorer Alex Bellini and his project ‘10 Rivers, 1 Ocean’, raising awareness about plastic pollution. It also supports the marine biologist Ocean Ramsey, renowned for her studies of sharks. Furthermore, it has been involved with #Batti5, a creative and educational project of beach cleaning with schoolchildren.
In North Sails’ S/S 20 collection more than 80% of outerwear is made from recycled materials. There is also a capsule of T-shirts made of cellulosic fibers: organic cotton, bamboo, viscose and SeaCell. The latest exciting development is North Sails’ partnership with the 36th America’s Cup, presented by Prada. As the official clothing partner of the world’s ultimate yachting event North Sails has presented a capsule collection for both men and women, including a 3-layer jacket, windbreaker, vest, softshell, polo and cap made entirely from recycled materials, combining high-performance solutions with sustainable innovation.
