BIANCA SAUNDERS
Looks that play with masculine stereotypes are Bianca Saunders’s calling card. A Londoner of West Indian heritage and a graduate of the Royal College of Art, she adds succinct details and figure-skimming silhouettes to typical menswear outfits to create a feminine lightness. Her A/W 2021 collection ‘Superimposed’ was showcased during London Fashion Week. Most striking are the wide-cut jackets with Saunders’s signature boxy shoulder. This season sees her focus on unusual textures, ruffles and creases on shirts, trousers and coats accentuated with batikstyle patterns. Saunders also printed blown-up images of creased jeans onto three styles created in partnership with Wrangler. Saunders founded her eponymous label in 2017 after completing an MA in menswear. Just one year later, she was named “One to Watch” by the British Fashion Council. The brand is available at international retailers such as House of Bandits, MatchesFashion.com, SSENSE, Machine-A, and GR8 (Japan). www.biancasaunders.com
