Featuring a total of 132 cameras and 36 depth sensors, the Fusion III 3D body scanner from NeXR Technologies can record customers’ precise body measurements in store. This data is used to create a personalized avatar that is stored in the AvatarCloud app on the customer’s smartphone. Customers can then try on (technically formatted) virtual looks whenever and wherever they want and the app will recommend the correct clothing size. The first tests of this virtual fitting process took place last autumn in Berlin and Hamburg: customers had the opportunity to create their digital twin at three H&M stores and were then able to “dress” their personal avatar in around 30 items of clothing and view it from all angles. The NeXR Fashion technology for retail not only offers an exciting digital experience; it can also reduce the number of returns and logistics costs for retailers – and thereby make online trading more sustainable. The AvatarCloud app is free in the Apple App Store and available on Google Play, the body scanner is still currently in the testing phase.
