HALLYU! THE KOREAN WAVE
The Victoria and Albert Museum departments come together to explore a specific theme – Hallyu! The Korean Wave. The exhibition presents the popular culture of South Korea through 200 display items, including K-Pop costumes, K-drama memorabilia, photography, sculpture, fashion, video, and other ephemera. Ravaged by war in the late 1950s, South Korea became a cultural powerhouse by the early 2000s, leaving a remarkable global impact on cinema, drama, music, fandom, beauty, and fashion. On display are garments by contemporary hanbok and fashion designers, including C-ZANN E, Danha, Tchai Kim, Ji Won Choi, and Darcycom, as well as a look specially created for the museum by the acclaimed stylist Suh Younghee.
