DEAR READER

-

Welcome to another issue of WeAr Denim, where we are excited to provide you with the latest information and hot topics about the blue gold while bringing the community together. Despite recent challenges such as the devastating earthquakes, floods, and economic instability, this industry perseveres and is doing its best to weather all storms. Take a moment to reflect how far each of you have come and the good work you have achieved. Don’t forget: in difficult times, true partnerships transpire and creativity reigns. If we at WeAr can help – don’t hesitate to reach out to us. In this issue, we focus on two important topics: design and washing/chemicals. Design is the bread and butter of our industry: reinvent denim, be creative, think outside the box and most of all – create a pair of excellent fitting jeans. On the other hand, washing and chemicals are unique worlds that remain almost exclusively to denim. We believe it is essential to keep those involved in the industry abreast of innovations in this sector, in order to prioritize the use of sustainable chemical options. We discuss the need to use sustainable chemical options and the answers some decision makers have given is clear: collaboration between brands and manufacturers is pivotal to achieve a more sustainable industry. We asked some of you in this issue to highlight the positive outlook towards sustainability, showcasing the commendable efforts, projects, and innovations that are being made. While there is still room for improvement, we are on a good path towards a more sustainable industry. We hope to see you at upcoming shows and events, and as always, please let us know if we can be of assistance or if you have any suggestions. We are here to support the community. Wishing you all successful business endeavors. Shamin Vogel Editor
