Women are encouraged to be as active as they want to be during pregnancy, and according to de Jong Westman, there isn’t much evidence that running into late pregnancy compromise­s pelvic f loor health. But she cautions that it pays to be conservati­ve, staying alert for bladder leakage or feelings of pressure or heaviness as your pregnancy progresses. “That is the time to pull back or stop running,” says de Jong Westman, adding that if you experience leakage during your pregnancy, you’re more likely to have leakage postpartum.
