Host a weekly BIPOC-only run
Consider following the example of Air Up There, which last summer implemented a once-weekly bipoc- exclusive run. (The club’s mantra is “representation leads to participation.”) Co-leader Moe Bsat believes that “if you can make one person of colour feel comfortable in the space you are in, that’s a victory.” When scheduling events and runs, take into consideration things like fees, location, accessibility and scheduling for shift workers.
If your club can support the numbers, other ideas may also include hosting special lgbtq+ runs and/or stroller runs for new moms and stay-at-home parents.
