How to Tell Your Running Story
s a runner and professional storyteller, I have always been aware of the relationship between running and storytelling. You don’t have to look far to see evidence of this – there is no shortage of articles, novels, memoirs and instructional books about running. And there is never a lack of stories after long runs or races, at the finish line, the post-race celebrations, back at the bar or coffee shop, the drive home or the next day at work. We all like to tell stories about our experience as runners. But being a runner doesn’t mean that I run well (only that I run often), and just because we want to tell our tale doesn’t mean we do it well.
