Highlight local landmarks

From a storytelling point of view, interesting places are almost as good as interesting people, especially if they’re familiar to your audience. Growing up in southwestern Ontario, my family and that of almost every kid I knew drove across the border for a winter holiday at some point, and we would talk about whether we took the Ambassador Bridge or the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. When I paced the Detroit Marathon in 2015, we got to run over the bridge and then back through the tunnel, which was incredibly cool.
