Huawei FREEBUDS PRO $270

-

Are you the type of runner who simply must have a selection of music and podcasts to entertain you through those long, unforgiving winter training runs? You’ll be interested to know that Huawei’s new noise-cancelling Bluetooth earbuds are remarkably good and competitively priced.

FreeBuds Pro automatically self-adjust between multiple noise-cancellation modes, depending on your environment, and you can control your music, answer and end calls and adjust volume with an intuitive system of gestures on the stalk. The buds offer up to 4.5 hours of music listening in noise-cancellation mode and an additional 20 hours in the charging case (calling time is slightly less), and may be paired with up to two devices at the same time. (Battery life is significantly longer with noisecancelling disabled, but considering the noise cancellation tech is the product’s main feature, you’re not likely to turn it off.) You can also enable Voice Mode for enhanced call quality via the AI Life app, currently available only to Android users.

Like most other earbuds, FreeBuds Pro are splash-resistant, but don’t wear them swimming.

The earbuds are lightweight and as comfortable in the ear as any other product we’ve tested. Three sizes of soft silicone eartips are included, and they come in three colours: Ceramic White, Carbon Black and Silver Frost.—
