A dinner party menu that will delight your guests’ palates without derailing anyone’s resolve to eat more nutritious­ly.

HEALTHY EATING is increasing­ly on people’s agendas: we want to eat better, have more energy and stay healthy as we age. Thanks to ongoing nutritiona­l science, today we recognize that the foods we eat— and don’t eat—can have a powerful influence on our health and longevity.

Plant-forward menus that offer plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and pulses (for example, beans, peas and lentils) are linked to protection from cardiovasc­ular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, even Alzheimer’s disease. Nuts and seeds, fatty fish and avocado deliver nutrients along with healthy unsaturate­d fats.

Of course, healthy eating is about enjoyment, too. Sharing and savouring a delicious meal with family and friends helps you eat mindfully and moderately. Entertaini­ng doesn’t mean you have to abandon your healthy eating routine for an overly indulgent meal. In fact, we’re willing to bet that, like you, your guests would welcome healthier options.
