Zacharias Kunuk and Asinnajaq Win TFCA Awards

-

In November 2017 celebrated filmmaker and Isuma co-founder Zacharias Kunuk, OC, added another accolade to his already impressive CV when the Toronto Film Critics Association (TFCA) announced him as the winner of the Technicolor Clyde Gilmour Award, which recognizes a person in the Canadian film industry who has contributed to the evolution of Canadian cinema.

In the spirit of paying it forward, the award allows the winner to name a filmmaker who will receive $50,000 in services from Technicolor Creative Services. In December 2017 the TFCA announced Kunuk had chosen Asinnajaq as the recipient. Asinnajaq’s first film, Three Thousand (2017), was screened at TIFF, where it won the Kent Monkman Award for Best Experimental Work.

Kunuk and Asinnajaq accepted their awards at the TFCA’s 21st Annual Awards Gala, held on January 9, 2018, in Toronto.
