Abstract:stainless steel SUH409L is widely used in automobile exhaust system. Materials in exhaust system parts are subject to high temperature stress and thermal vibration fatigue in high temperature environment. In this research, SUH409L stainless steel is subject to high temperature tensile test in a high temperature furnace according to relevant domestic test standards, from which the yield strength and tensile strength of the materials at different temperatures are obtained. Through thermal fatigue test, SUH409L thermal fatigue S- N curve at 500 ℃, 600 ℃ and
700 ℃ is obtained. The test results are instructive for the use of SUH409L in different parts of exhaust system. It provides a thermal fatigue analysis method close to the actual use for the weld fatigue analysis in exhaust system design. Key words: SUH409L, High temperature mechanics, Thermal fatigue
